What If Your Turmeric Is Intoxicating Rather Than Healing Your Body?
Did you know that adulteration is common among many kinds of Turmeric powders?
While you are looking to keep your body healthy, you can be jeopardizing your health.
3 DIY tests to check if your turmeric is adulterated or pure:
Palm test:
Put a pinch of turmeric powder in the palm of your hand and massage it with the thumb of your other hand for 15/20 secs. Pure turmeric powder will stick to your palm and create an intense yellow stain, whereas adulterated turmeric will fall off in large amounts.
Water test:
Add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of warm water; leave it for about 10/15 mins.
If it settles down, it is pure, whereas if adulterated, it’ll leave a dark yellow color without settling down.
Furthermore, if it instantly releases streaks of water-soluble color, definitely a Lead Chromate chemical is present.
Metanil yellow test:
Place a pinch of turmeric powder in a test tube, add a few drops of hydrochloric acid and shake it well. If the solution turns pink, then the turmeric is adulterated.
IMPORTANT!
When you consume turmeric powder high in Metanil, you could experience stomach problems, food poisoning, or nausea.
